Molecular Hydrogen

What is Molecular Hydrogen?

Molecular hydrogen (H2) is the lightest and most abundant element in the earth's atmosphere. It is a colorless and odorless gas.

Why Hydrogen?

1. Health Benefits of Molecular Hydrogen Therapy

Hydrogen therapy has been shown to have a wide range of potential health benefits including, but not limited to:

  • Reducing oxidative stress
  • Improving energy metabolism
  • Protecting against cellular damage
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Supporting healthy gut function
  • Promoting overall health and wellness
  • Enhancing athletic performance
  • Anti-ageing
  • Enhancing skin health
  • Improve sleep quality
  • Improve brain function and reduce brain fog
  • Aiding Covid-19 recovery and reducing symptoms of long covid
  • Adjunctive treatment for numerous conditions including but not limited to: stroke, cancer, chronic inflammatory diseases (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis) and neurological conditions.

A "philosophical molecule," hydrogen may overcome senescence and intractable diseases.

         (Japanese research paper, 2020).

How does hydrogen work?

The biological effects of molecular hydrogen on the cellular and systemic level are the reason behind its multiple health benefits, it heals from the inside-out :

  •  Antioxidant : selectively neutralises hydroxy radicals and peroxynitrite, the harmful free radicals in the body
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Anti-apoptosis (programmed cell death
  • Maintenance of mitochondrial function
  • Immunomodulatory effect

Simply put, it makes our bodies less ‘rusty’ (removing harmful free radicals); helps to preserve more heathy cells (regulating programmed cell death) which are supplied with more fuel/ energy (mitochondrial support); and with a more resistant engine (better immune system). Hydrogen creates a better environment and provide support for our bodies to heal and to function better!

 2. Supported by Science

'If it is so good, why have I not heard about it?'

  • Molecular hydrogen is a relatively new area of scientific research, active academic interest only started in 2007.
  • There is growing evidence of its therapeutic effects in many areas.
  • Since 2017, over 1700 research papers have been published on hydrogen therapy.
  • Its potential therapeutic effects have been confirmed in over 170 different human and animal-disease models.

 3. Safe

  • Molecular hydrogen is a safe, non-toxic, and well-tolerated therapy with minimal or no side effects. Hydrogen therapy does not have any known interactions with other medications or negative effects on the liver or other organs.

 4. Economical

  • Affordable : the only running cost is water and electricity supply after initial purchase. No more expensive supplements or on-going costly treatment sessions!
  • Benefits of hydrogen therapy are long-lasting, potentially reducing the need for more expensive treatments in the long run.
  • The whole family can benefit by sharing the equipment.

How can hydrogen be delivered into our body?

1. Hydrogen-Rich Water

    • Hydrogen-rich water (HRW) is a simple and convenient way to get a daily dose of hydrogen. Simply drink the water and experience the benefits with every sip.
    • It is easily absorbed by the body and quickly diffuses into the bloodstream, providing fast and effective delivery of hydrogen to cells and tissues throughout the body.

    2. Hydrogen Inhalation

    • Inhaling hydrogen-rich gas is a quick and easy way to
experience the benefits of hydrogen. Simply breathe in the gas and feel the power of hydrogen at work.
    • It is quickly absorbed by the body through the lungs, into the brain and diffuses into the bloodstream, providing fast and effective delivery of hydrogen to cells and tissues throughout the body.
    • Hydrogen gas can pass through the blood-brain barrier due to its small size, making it superior for potential neurological benefits.

      3. Hydrogen Bath/ Spa

    • Soaking in hydrogen-rich water can help reduce skin inflammation, improve skin hydration and elasticity.
    • Its potential antimicrobial effects can help protect the skin from harmful bacteria.
    • Soaking in HRW has be shown in studies to benefit skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis

Everyone can benefit from using molecular hydrogen!

    • Athletes

Molecular hydrogen therapy can help to reduce oxidative stress and muscle fatigue, allowing athletes to perform at their best and recover faster.

A recent Japanese study found that drinking hydrogen water "lowered the energy expenditure during a 60 min pedaling exercise" suggesting the potential benefit of HRW "during endurance exercise in the heat."    and another study found "HG inhalation during post-exercise recovery period might improve exercise performance via reducing systemic oxidative damage".  A latest review study in 2023 found  "H2 can significantly reduce subjective fatigue and blood lactate after high-intensity exercise in healthy adults"

    • Seniors

As people age, their bodies become more susceptible to oxidative stress and cellular damage. Hydrogen therapy can help support healthy aging by reducing oxidative stress and protecting cells.

    • People suffering from or recovering from cancer

      :

Cancer is a disease characterized by oxidative stress and cellular damage. Molecular hydrogen therapy can help to reduce oxidative stress, protect cells, and support healthy cellular function, making it a potential complementary therapy for people with cancer.

It has also been shown in studies that molecular hydrogen can reduce the side-effects of cancer treatment and the quality of life of patients.

A recently published (2023) review paper stated, "H2 plays a promising therapeutic role as an independent therapy as well as an adjuvant in combination therapy, resulting in an overall improvement in survivability, quality of life, blood parameters, and tumour reduction".

Evidence has also emerged of the effect of molecular hydrogen in reducing the side-effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy and improving the quality of life of patients.

    • People with neurological issues:

Hydrogen molecules can pass the blood-brain barrier and therapy has been shown to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation in the brain, making it a potential therapeutic option for those with neurological issues such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.

    • People with chronic inflammatory diseases:

Chronic inflammation is a key factor in many diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. Hydrogen therapy can help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation for people with chronic inflammatory diseases.

    • People with digestive issues:

Hydrogen supports healthy gut function by promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria.

    • Healthy people:

Hydrogen therapy can help support overall health and wellness by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, protecting cells, and improving energy metabolism and increasing hydration.

It can also reduce negative effects of environmental pollutants, emf radiation, toxins and even hangovers!
